Technical Artist

We’re looking for highly experienced, versatile and passionate Technical Artists to solve problems, improve our tools and pipelines, and apply ingenuity to projects! Applicants must demonstrate a specialized capability as well as general versatility in all aspects of a CG pipeline. We look for individuals that proactively solve issues and have the flexibility and foresight to research, design and implement cutting-edge tools before artists require them. Technical Artists should be ready to jump into everyday production and force-multiply our art and technology capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build professional, A+ prototypes in support of the lab's broader VR software goals
  • Define, research, write and maintain tools for project and VR lab-wide needs
  • Host workshops for community developers to learn more about best-practices in VR design and interaction.

Requirements:

  • Five or more years of professional experience in animation, games or CG industry
  • Senior level contribution on a previously shipped linear medium or game product
  • Expert experience with 3D software suites preferred (Maya, Zbrush, Modo, etc)
  • Python and C++ programming experience preferred
  • Ability to self-manage and make responsible decisions about time and project priorities
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or engineering equivalent is a plus

  • Implement, test, debug, and maintain engine and code for UE4 (Unreal Engine)
  • Work closely with designers and other engineers to create high quality features
  • Write C++ code at a professional level in a modern engine
  • Improve by example the efficiency and quality of the TVR Lab’s tech team
  • Help to peer-review code and keep TVR Lab's code quality bar high

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of software development experience in the game industry or equivalent.

Maker / Hardware Hacker / Designer

We are looking for a maker to help us create products that take VR from virtual to reality. As our resident maker, you'll bring together art, form and functionality for commercial purposes. You'll be working at the cutting edge of VR, design and engineering to help us manufacture products for small-scale batch production and bespoke industries. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the TVR digital fabrication program - including articulating our philosophy of VR for design and realization of 'a market for one person'.
  • Develop partnerships with makers, small-batch manufacturers and fabrication facilities throughout China.
  • Design, create and further refine TVR Lab VR-physical prototypes.
  • Making sketches of ideas by hand or computer and developing the most effective ideas into detailed drawings sometimes using specialist computer software.
  • Meeting TVR stakeholders and commissioning clients to discuss design brief for custom ordering and modifying ideas according to feedback received.

VR Community Manager

We are seeking a Community Development Manager to join Transist VR Lab in the beautiful campus of Gongyi Xintiandi! The Community Development Manager will be in charge of proactive communication between the Transist VR Lab and the boarder online and offline VR community in China and worldwide.

This person will need to have strong writing and speaking skills in both Chinese and English and an interest in understanding the VR community culture and behavior in China and throughout the world. In addition to communication related skills, the ideal candidates should have in-depth experience in all things VR. You will be our eyes and ears for all things VR in China and internationally so a strong passion for VR is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for communication via blog / forum in official community websites on behalf of the the Transist VR Lab.
  • Support the Transist VR Lab and its related communications and promotions.
  • Localize, generate, and publish high-quality editorial content for the Transist VR Lab.
  • Ensure effective communication between the Lab and VR communities.
  • Responsible for VR community monitoring include official community sites, fansites and other online community sites.
  • Plan and execute community events and promotions.
  • Support social media communication and campaigns (WeChat, Weibo, FB, Twitter) and grow our online presence by reaching out to local VR enthusiasts in both China and internationally.
  • Build and maintain relations with community leaders and influencers.

We are looking for an exceptional full-time administrator to join the team as we expand our lab!  The right candidate will be passionate about VR, an expert at navigating the various bureaucracies within Shanghai + China, super-organized and detail oriented and with a flexible schedule.  

Duties

  • You are the soul of the lab, without you, we can't function on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate the lab schedule, including ensuring that development team environments are prepared in advance.
  • Manage lab hardware, including inventory and tracking.
  • Basic lab record-keeping, filing and general administrative duties.
  • Maintain lab systems, keeping software up-to-date: Unity, Unreal, Adobe CS, and more
  • Ensure lab space, working spaces and storage areas are orderly and ready for use
